Cabin (1620 sq. ft.) in Copper Harbor, MI
4 miles from Lac La Belle
At the end of a winding gravel road, you’ll be welcomed by perennial gardens and a stone path that leads to a secluded cabin that seems lifted straight out of a fairy tale. “It’s a Hansel-Gretel cottage!” one guest exclaimed upon arrival. Unlike many luxury properties, our cabin is not pretentious, despite its beauty and charm; rather, it's a place for finding comfort, balance and connection: outdoor activities, exploration, contemplation and relaxation. The stone/wood/bark cabin has an open first floor plan with 200+ degree lake views, leather window seats, a wood-burning fireplace, modern kitchen with all the conveniences, a living area for dining and lounging, and a half-bath. On the lake side, there’s an expansive enclosed porch that’s perfect for enjoying your evening cocktail. The second floor has two sun-filled bedrooms with queen beds and two luxurious bathrooms. And then there's the unique artistic details that make this an inspiring, one-of-a-kind property. A comment from a guest who works with architects: “If you’re contemplating building a home or cabin, spend a week at this amazing place. It’ll be the best investment you’ll ever make.” The 7-acre property, with its 2300 feet of waterfront, can keep you busy for the week. Enjoy cooking over an open fire by the fire pit, or lounge around on the lakeside deck. Shower au naturel in the outdoor shower, surrounded by flowers and forest views. A delightful trail, almost one mile long, winds through the property - perfect for mountain biking, hiking, running, snowshoeing or x-skiing. Choose either of two sandy coves for wading and swimming. You can jump off the dock for a refreshing swim or sunbathe on the lichen-covered rocky point. There are two canoes for guests; Lake Medora is a beautiful, peaceful 700 acre lake with several picturesque islands, perfect for exploring and picnics. There are tons of nearby attractions. You'll find world-class mountain biking in nearby Copper Harbor, a town that seems lifted straight off the set of "Northern Exposure" with its one-room schoolhouse and its combination of northwoods/Maine Coast feel. It's the gateway to Isle Royale (the least visited of all National Parks). Look for agates along Lake Superior's coastline, gape at the ancient, towering white pines in the Estivant Pines sanctuary, or tour the many waterfalls of the Keweenaw Peninsula. In winter head to Mount Bohemia, often listed as one of the top 10 ski destinations in North America. The Keweenaw Peninsula has some of the deepest, most reliable snow in the entire US. It's a winter wonderland! But if you wish to experience the magic of winter at Anam Cara you'll have to arrive by ski, snowshoe or snowmobile as there is no car access. Anam Cara means soul friend in Gaelic and the name summarizes this unique property, where it's almost impossible not to fall in love with the beauty and feel of this magical place.

Play a few rounds of disc golf or regular golf at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. For the Mountain Biking enthusiasts - Copper Harbor Mountain Bike Trails were designated as an International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) Silver Level “Ride Center” in October of 2012. Ranked among the top 5 trail systems in the world at that time... Keweenaw Adventure Company offers shuttle service (and bike rental) for those that prefer to focus on the adrenaline rush from the downhill biking as opposed to the leg and lung challenging uphill. They also offer kayak tours and rentals. Charter a guide service and catch your limit of Lake trout on Lake Superior, or fish from the boat launch or shore of the Harbor. Lake Manganese, Lake Fanny Hooe, and Lake Medora are all within a few miles as well and offer a variety of species of fish. Eagle Harbor (14 miles south on M26) offers excellent fishing in the Harbor or at Lake Eliza. Mount Baldy nature conservancy trail is a must hike for those who enjoy a bit of a workout that will be rewarded with an amazing view of Eagle Harbor, Lake Superior, and beyond. The Eagle Harbor Township trails offer peaceful scenic hiking in summer and snow shoeing/cross country skiing in winter. 17 miles south on M-26 is Great Sand Bay, where you will find a pristine sand beach and protected sand dunes. This is a great location for viewing freighters pass by on Lake Superior, scuba diving or snorkeling to explore the copper veins below the water, kite surfing, or relaxing and soaking up the sun.

This is the small cottage at 385 Brockway. It has a deck and is on the water. One bedroom, small kitchen, small dining area and sitting area. This house has one queen bed, one small sofa sleeper. DOC'S INN SLEEPS: 4 BEDROOMS: 2 BATHROOMS: 1 *RENT 1 CABIN OR ALL 4 TOGETHER There are 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, a full kitchen, and a large dining and living room space. Doc's Inn- This cottage was built for a regular Lake Breeze Resort guest. He was a physician who traveled with his chauffeur, so the house was built with two bedrooms; the larger for the doctor and the smaller for the chauffeur. The magnificent stone fireplace was built by Louis Ozzie who also built the fireplaces at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. A message from the owners: “At the turn of the century, our great-grandparents emigrated from Scandinavia and settled in the Keweenaw Peninsula, not only building a new life for themselves, but literally building many of the churches, schools, stores, and homes in the area. Of course, many childhood memories include swimming in Lake Superior, picking thimble berries, grilling fresh-caught fish, and watching for bears and wildlife in this magical place. We fell in love with these 4 cottages because they belonged to the original Lake Breeze Resort in Eagle Harbor. Built in the 1920's, this resort had 15 cottages that sat on “The Hill” overlooking the harbor. As time went on, some of the cottages were sold, and we now find ourselves lucky enough to own four." Saturday to Saturday weekly rental. (Sorry, 2021 is sold out. Now booking for 2022.) This 1,500 sq. ft. home is located on Great Sand Bay near the village of Eagle Harbor in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Situated on State Highway M-26, also known as Sand Dunes Drive, the Keweenaw Hodge Podge Lodge is located about halfway between the villages of Eagle River and Eagle Harbor. Frequent visitors to the area will know about The Jampot, just a four or five minute walk to the west. The original 600 sq. ft., one-story structure was built some 50 years ago and was a typical summer cottage with two rooms: the bedroom with a small bathroom and a great room that contained the kitchen and living space. In the 1990's, a modern two-story 900 sq. ft. addition was completed with two bedrooms and a shared half bath upstairs, while downstairs is the living room and full bathroom complete with tub/shower. The original portion is now open space with the kitchen, dining area and family room all in one area with a separate laundry room. The accommodations include the two bedrooms upstairs, one bedroom with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds and two bunk beds, both bedrooms sharing a half bath. Downstairs sleeping arrangements include a pull-out couch and a futon in the living room as well as a pull-out couch in the original section easily accommodating eight guests. There is a full bathroom downstairs. For those that want to cook, there is a refrigerator, stove and oven, charcoal grill, and a variety of cooking utensils available for use. A coffee pot, microwave, crock pot, griddle and toaster oven are also provided. A few basic supplies are provided, but you should plan on bringing your own just in case you don't find what you want. Very good cell coverage is available from Verizon at the property but as you travel around the Keweenaw you will find many dead spots and coverage will switch between carriers. WiFi is provided and is the only option for watching television as the home is located in an area that cannot receive a signal and there is no cable or satellite provided. Feel free to bring your own Firestick / Chromecast / Roku device and sign into your home account. Download speeds are approximately 2 - 3 mbps which is adequate for average resolution. There is a DVD player and a small number of DVDs to watch or bring your own! Walking out the back door, down five stairs and then about 20 steps brings you to the beach! The washed rocks are smooth and easy to walk on and typically extend just into the water where you will find rocks and sand for a few feet before turning into all sand. The water is clear and clean and can be deceptively cold, after all it is Lake Superior! You can wade, swim or kayak right from the beach. This is the perfect place to spend an afternoon or evening listening to the waves, watching the sunsets and catching a glimpse of the many bald eagles that frequent the shoreline. Located in the Keweenaw (KEY-wuh-naw) Peninsula, many visitors and locals consider this to be the most beautiful part of the Upper Peninsula. The rugged shoreline is readily accessible to fishermen, boaters, kayakers, divers and swimmers and there are several marinas nearby including Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and Lac La Belle as well as several boat launches providing access to smaller lakes. The inland areas are heavily wooded with maples, oaks, poplars and pines creating beautiful fall colors that rival many of the New England sights. Just 18 miles away is Copper Harbor, the "end of the road", or as the sign says it is the beginning of US41. Only 1990 miles to Miami. Copper Harbor has become a destination for mountain biking and kayaking in the summer and downhill skiing and dog sled racing in the winter. From there, you can catch the Isle Royale Queen and take the 3 to 4 hour boat ride to Isle Royale National Park. The main reason people visit is for the beauty, the peaceful environment and a reminder of how things used to be. Enjoy your stay!
